WHAT?
A cycle ride taking in around 400 miles of the finest British land which took just over 3 weeks!

More specifically, the challenge was to cycle the long distances but also to inspire as many people as possible particulary children in the schools and to raise as much as possible to help cure paralysis.

WHERE?
#Clairescycle started in Nottingham and finished in London on 13 May and passed through many towns and villages along the way. Claire stopped at many schools along the route and walked in her robotic suit.

WHEN?
Started on April 22nd 2013 and finished on May 13 2013.

WHY?

For many reasons.

In memory of Catherine Kouam. Catherine passed away in August 2012 following a similar injury to Claire. She struggled for 2.5 years following a car crash that left her paralysed. Catherine would have loved there to be a cure and this inspires Claire to keep cycling and raise money to help research.

Claire has been inundated with requests to visit schools, clubs and organisations following the Marathon to talk about her experiences. In order to try and see everyone she decided to combine inspiring others into the bike challenge. The feedback from the staff and pupils from the schools she has visited so far has been exceptional!

Finally of course, to fundraise as much cash as possible for the two charities #clairescycle is supporting; Spinal Research and The Nicholls Foundation.

HOW?
Claire did a mixture of hand cycling and walking in the Rewalk suit (Fred) at schools

The Route covered around 400 miles all of which were within the UK, starting in Nottingham and finishing in London.

Claire cycled through as many villages and towns as possible as well as speaking in lots of school along with a demo of 'Fred' her robot suit letting children find out how she walked the marathon. This was all in aid of raising funds for both Spinal Research and the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation.

Schools have been amazing at fund-raising for the challenge and thousands of children have now heard Claire's story.

Claire would like to continue to take her message around the country so if you would like a visit and are prepared to fund-raise for the cause, please do get in touch- take a look at the 'school visit' page !
