Motivational / Inspirational speaker
Iliffe Media, publishers of the Newark Advertiser engaged Claire as our guest speaker for the Newark Business Awards just a few weeks ago at the recommendation of somebody working in the event industry. What a great decision it was!
Claire delivered her story, her up's, down's and achievements with such honesty and humour, capturing the attention and admiration of everybody in the room. The standing ovation from the 260+ business people and local dignitaries in the room at the end of her speech spoke volumes, as did the huge queue that developed for her book signing!
It has been an absolute pleasure to meet and work with Claire; so much so we've just secured her for our Grantham Business Awards in November.
What an inspiration!
Sharron Marriott - Events & Sponsorship Coordinator at Iliffe Media Ltd
"It was a delight to meet Claire last week, when she appeared as our finale speaker at the BCGA annual conference in Manchester.
Many people will know Claire as the lady who walking the London Marathon in 17 days in a robotic suit in 2012, having been tragically paralysed in an eventing accident some years before. er story, her exploits and achievements since her accident, and indeed Claire herself, are truly remarkable and very inspirational - and she held our audience of circa 150 delegates spellbound for an hour, to close our event on a real high. We have had a range of closing speakers at our event over many years, ranging from politicians, to athletes and celebrities – and I can say that Claire was up there with the best.
I would have no hesitation in recommending her as a truly wonderful speaker to those organising similar events."
Doug Thornton – Chief Executive of British Compressed Gases Association
"Claire was one of the most memorable and exceptional participants in the 2017 Simplyhealth Great South Run, and we just knew we had to learn more about her story. We were delighted to secure Claire for our December company conference where she gave one of the most inspirational and engaging talks that our teams have had the privilege to hear. Claire’s speech was perfectly compiled and presented, taking each of us through her journey with both emotion and humour. Her extraordinary attitude to life and her determination to fulfil her life goals of becoming a mother, getting married, and continuing to attain sporting achievements was inspirational to all of us. It provided an ideal time to reflect on the challenges we sometimes face in life, and the true grit, spirit and determination we can find to conquer them."
Caroline Coleman, Managing Director at Simplyhealth Professionals
"Claire joined our Christmas Conference whilst onboard a cruise to speak to 175 delegates. She spoke eloquently & passionately and came across as a wonderfully inspiring, honest, warm, down to earth & incredibly driven person and all credit to her for enduring the ship swaying during her presentation amidst some rough seas!. Her time with us was very well received by all and was the icing on the cake to a very successful conference."

"Claire is an inspirational speaker and an incredible woman!. I approached Claire earlier in the year to speak at the IOF West Midlands conference - We wanted someone motivational to kick start the conference and Claire was certainly that. Her sheer determination to succeed is quite frankly astonishing and she really does prove that you can succeed in anything you put your mind to. So many people commented on Claire’s opening plenary and it really did set the day off to a positive start. Claire was a pleasure to deal with right from the beginning of the process to presenting on the day. She is both friendly and approachable and I would highly recommend her as a speaker at any event - Thanks so much Claire."
Belinda Hatton - NHS MIDLANDS AND LANCASHIRE COMMISSIONING SUPPORT UNIT
"I cannot recommend Claire enough as a speaker. Not only is she engaging, inspiring, funny and eloquent but she is also very warm and welcoming. Claire’s level of communication, throughout the relationship, was exemplary and she showed genuine interest in our project and the people involved. Thank you Claire."
Simon Brighty - Notts YMCA. Operations Manager - Marketing, Communications & Funding
"We were looking for a guest speaker who could inspire our management team to remain focused on the job in hand during times of uncertainty and difficulty. Claire absolutely nailed the brief - and then some! As well as demonstrating absolute commitment and determination, Claire is also extremely relatable as a person, so the story of Claire’s incredible journey really resonated with the audience. Following the speech, she and her partner Dan, also joined us for dinner, handling questions from around the room with aplomb. What a lovely couple! An absolute pleasure to work with. We wish them well."
Donna Hopkins. Polypipe Group PLC. Executive Assistant to Group CEO & CFO.
“Claire’s extemporaneous speaking style was excellent. She kept the audience engaged and was able to establish and maintain eye contact throughout. We wanted our staff to walk away from our company meeting feeling positive, knowing that belief is important in achieving your goals and that change can be hard but that it’s important to embrace it. Claire exceeded our expectations and her journey moved us - some to tears. Her positivity and fun personality was truly inspiring. Claire had a positive impact on the entire audience. There were tears as well as laughter. Additionally Claire’s book signing was a line of people who all had personal reasons for being there – from individuals with loved ones also dealing with psychological damage to those simply wanting to meet Claire to express their admiration.”
Claire was the motivational speaker at the Annual Conference of the NW Branch of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA) on 21 September 2018.
Our theme was “Talent, Technology, Transformation” and Claire addressed all three in the most awe inspiring of ways.
Claire’s presentation was searingly honest and brutal in its messages, which made it all the more impactful to listen to and she – quite literally – moved some of our audience to tears.
Her determination, drive and positive attitude was humbling, uplifting and inspirational. Listening to her certainly put the challenges that we face in the workplace as public finance professionals into context.
And watching Claire demonstrate how a robotic suit can help her walk upright and unaided really brought home how technology can be embraced to really make a difference, however hard it might be to get used to using it!
Thank you, Claire, for sharing your experiences with us – You are truly inspiring!
Stephanie Donaldson, Group Chief Internal Auditor at Government Internal Audit Agency
Claire’s single hour was the most memorable session at our two day conference and is still talked about 3 months later. Claire presented a fantastic lesson in positivity, strength and personal determination that individuals can understand and in turn use as motivation for themselves.
Thank you for sharing your world Claire.
Sarah Green, Virgin Money
“Claire kindly agreed to present to a large audience composed of academics and business leaders at our Sheffield University Health Technologies Industry Day, something even I find daunting. Claire is a superb and inspirational speaker, she really brought to life the experience of walking the London Marathon with a robotic endoskeleton, and also provided profound insights into the human experience of living with a life changing disability. Since her presentation to us, I know that Claire has had many more adventures, and I warmly recommend her as a speaker who will change the way you think about life and what makes it worth living. We received fantastic feedback from all delegates”
Professor Paul Hatton, Innovations in Healthcare conference, Sheffield.
"Claire spoke at our Clinical Conference at Haydock Park in September and received a standing ovation for her inspirational story. She truly epitomises what hard work and determination can achieve and this was reflected in the fantastic feedback that we received from conference participants. Thank you Claire, we are so appreciative of your taking the time to come and share your experiences with us which I feel will impact positively on the work we do every day in our roles and lives in general"
Joanna Livingstone, NHS Midlands & Lancashire CSU, Clinical Services, South Region
“Always difficult to choose the right inspirational speaker for any event but trying to capture the enthusiasm of at times jaded worn out health professionals is always a challenge. Claire Lomas woke us up with her energy and enthusiasm for meeting life head on and reminded us to always remember to look at our patients that cross our path having their own individual goals and desires of what they want and need from life. A truly inspiring story. Claire left an audience in awe and admiration of what can be achieved no matter what limitations have been placed on our bodies – thank you Claire”
Gail Lowdon - Clinical Surveillance lead, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
“With increasing pressures and ever decreasing budgets, the health and social care sectors are working hard to improve integrated working practices for the benefit of communities and people that they serve. Many of the challenges arise from bureaucracy, attempting to bring together very different processes and work cultures. We asked Claire to speak at an event which was designed to bring health and social care colleagues together to look at the challenges they face together and how these might most effectively be addressed - it was the first of its kind in the East Midlands and aimed to help delegates focus on why they all do the jobs that they do, and what can be achieved with the right level of determination and support. Claire's story is inspiring and extremely emotional - that goes without saying, but she delivers it with a candid humour and honesty which cannot fail to touch everyone in the room. She is truly inspirational and very much helped to focus the minds of delegates of how to achieve something that appears to be impossible. A fantastic speaker and an incredible woman.”
Liz McIntyre- NHS East Midlands Healthcare Conference
“Claire opened our NHS Leadership conference with her amazing and inspiring story. The audience, a mix of NHS leaders, future leaders and academics listened, laughed, cried and were all able to take something away from Claire’s session, whether it be personal or professional. Claire gave us a great insight into not only her personal story, but also her experiences of care and rehab in the NHS. This motivated delegates to ensure Claire’s experiences will inspire continual improvement of care quality and patient experience. We are so pleased Claire took the time to speak to us, the feedback from all in the room was unanimously positive, and she set the tone for a fabulous day.”

"We design skills and leadership development programmes for lawyers who work in some of the most significant and demanding companies in the world. I met Claire for the first time in 2014 and from the very beginning I knew Claire would make an astonishing contribution to our work. Her story is of course extraordinary, but she is able to combine a talent for compelling story-telling in the most accessible, searingly honest and humbling way imaginable. She is the best of all us, but makes it possible for all of us to want to emulate her love of life, opportunity and potential. It is a privilege to work with her and her brilliant team. The moment I first reached out to Claire will always be one of the best decisions I ever made."
Paul Gilbert, LBC Wise Counsel
"It was a pleasure having Claire Lomas at FutureFest; her story is inspirational and her use of innovative technology and ambitious spirit made for a wonderful addition to the festival."
Josh McNorton, Festival Manager, FutureFest
“Claire’s story was moving, entertaining and inspirational. She was very clear in her presentation, as well as being honest and open about the physical and emotional struggles that she has encountered. The video that was shown at the beginning was very good to draw people into the story, and the walking suit was an eye-opener for the challenges that Claire faces. Being able to purchase Claire’s book at the end was also something that our audience were thrilled about.
Everyone who attended was moved by Claire’s story, inspired by her courage and amazed by her positivity. We have had so much positive feedback and the speech has been talked about in the office a lot since. Having heard a little of Claire’s story we all wanted to hear more! I am sure that many of us will be keen to follow Claire’s story going forward and support her charity work in any way we can.”

“Claire’s speech was inspirational, humbling and incredibly moving. We had some wonderful feedback”
"Your key note speech was inspiring, moving, honest and fun. All the delegates were touched when you walked into the room and saw first-hand how gruelling completing the London Marathon must have been as well as overcoming all the other obstacles in your way.
We all enjoyed hearing about your emotional and physical journey following your accident and how you looked to the future without dwelling on the past. Your message of setting goals and having the courage of your own convictions was very timely for delegates from our sector."
"Claire communicates in clear and moving language her simple message that no matter how great the challenge, never give up. She is a true inspiration."
Matthew Barker- Fisher German

Brilliant and inspiring! Amazing, so inspirational! Very open and honest...Awesome!
The feedback from delegates says it all – I could write all 120 comments, they are all creditable. This is the first time we have had complete 100% ‘excellent’ feedback regarding the chosen guest speaker.
Without any doubt, Claire Lomas was the perfect guest speaker for this event – she has achieved what she set out to do and more. Her incredible honesty about her journey and experience was inspirational and impressive and a lesson to us all on determination and courage. Claire is an intelligent, captive speaker, who delivered so many valuable messages regarding achieving personal potential, following your dreams, aiming high and remaining positive. A credit to all that heard her speak.

"Claire provided a riveting finale to our recent National Partners Conference . Her frank and poignant presentation of her personal journey from a superfit event rider to a paraplegic monoskier as a result of a freak accident which could affect anyone, had our business audience of 140 people rapt with admiration. She is an exceptional individual with a courageous fighting spirit. Her enthusiasm for life, refusal to give in, ability to adapt and ambition to succeed left a lasting impression and inspired everyone in the room."
David West , Consultant, and Organiser of Partners Conference for national law firm Freeths LLP
“I came to listen to your presentation in the Farrer Theatre in Eton on Friday, and was thoroughly impressed and humbled by your achievements and ‘joie de vie’. You were a great example to our boys, and certainly inspired them. Thank you for taking the time to visit us.”
"This is just to say thank you again for coming in to talk to the girls this morning. Both staff and pupils have come up to me throughout the day to say how much they were moved and inspired by hearing you talk about your experiences. I chatted to one girl at lunchtime who told me you were the best speaker she has ever listened to. So I'd say that was a success!"
"Thank you so much for your time and excellent presentation on Wednesday – it was great to meet you and listen to your story in person. It wouldn’t have been the same without you."

"A fantastic day. Such an inspiring and wonderful talk"
"Your talk was great, everyone is still talking about you. You are an inspiration and I’m honoured to have met you"
Claire speaks about the split second that changed her life, and candidly describes the darkest times. This is combined with humour which has helped Claire get through some embarrassing moments that her injury has caused. The audience go through the extreme roller-coaster of emotions with Claire; they cry, they laugh and they admire.
She demonstrates the robotic suit, and you could hear a pin drop as everyone is fascinated by the pioneering technology. As Claire walks across the room, people are in awe that she managed 26.2 miles in the streets of London when she can’t even feel the ground beneath her.
Claire talks about the gradual process of turning her situation around, and surprisingly how the five best days of her life have all been after her devastating injury. She describes the turning point which was when she stopped thinking of everything she could no longer do, and instead the many things she could still do. Claire challenges her audience to raise their sights, make their own luck by taking opportunities and be the best they can be.
People leave the room believing in themselves, inspired and hugely motivated. When faced with challenges in their own lives, Claire’s words stick in their mind,
“Whether you believe you can or whether you believe you can’t - you are right”.
